Jason Williamson started Williamson Contracting Ltd with a single spreader in 1991. Growing on a dairy farm had given Jason a good understanding of the needs of farmers and the business took off. It was in 2010 that the spreading side of the business was made into a separate company when the couple entered a joint venture agreement with Ravensdown to form Spreading Northland Limited. Both businesses are now operated by Jason and wife Helena. Williamson Contracting focuses on bulk cartage of palm kernel, fertiliser, lime and metal as well as earthworks for dams, effluent ponds etc. The company also owns a blower truck and trailer for transporting palm kernel and other products into silos. Spreading Northland Ltd is a joint venture between Ravensdown and Williamson Contracting Ltd. Based out of Ravensdown's Dargaville store, the company operate four full time spreaders plus a specialised mini spreader for lighter soils and crop work. The four larger units all tow trailers and have been fitted with Ravensdown's proof of placement technology. Spreading Northland operate from Dargaville up through to Kaikohe and across to Whangarei and Mata.
