Diack Bros. Ltd was established in 1962 when it was identified that there were insufficient numbers of lifting machines available in Hawke's Bay to efficiently operate the contract building business. From an initial purchase of one mobile crane, the present day fleet has expanded to include a variety of mobile and truck-mounted cranes. Other equipment includes forklifts, scissor lifts and hydraulic man cages.
Diack Bros. Ltd have six crane-mounted (Hiab) trucks all equipped with 14 meter booms. Five of the trucks are the largest in Hawke's Bay. These vehicles are primarily employed in the building industry carting loads including framing, roof trusses, long run iron, palletised blocks and board and steel fittings all up to a total length of 19 meters. Most loads can be handled directly from the truck deck to be placed up to the second-storey level of buildings.
When a crane is required there are six cranes available ranging in capacity from 16 tonnes up to 80 tonnes payload with a boom length up to 68 meters. Lifting equipment includes spreader beams and specialist strops.
